In a recent interview with the Journal Advocate, Wainwright said she hopes joining the co-op will inspire her to create more. She makes books, such as journals and notebooks, with leather covers.
Wainwright said she got into the craft first through doing leatherwork. She has always enjoyed books and journals, and took a class about seven years ago on book binding. She’s been making books ever since.
Her pieces on display at Sterling Creatives feature soft, supple covers with a decorative inner cover before the blank pages to fill with thoughts, recipes and records.
A native of New York City, Wainwright met her husband while serving in the U.S. Army after college. After living in Texas, they moved to Colorado to be closer to friends and now live in Brush, where she works in the technology field.
Wainwright said she had stopped into the Sterling Creatives store a few times while in Sterling and liked what she saw, which made her want to be a part of the cooperative.
